Call for application: 2014-15 Visiting Research Fellowship at CEU

Central European University (CEU) announces a call for its Visiting Research Fellowships program for the academic year 2014-15. The fellowship program is supported by the Higher Education Support Program of the Open Society Foundations. The program is aimed at academics employed in higher education institutions in selected countries (see the list of eligible countries below). Fellows can be hosted by any CEU school, department or research center for a period of three to six months.

Political Science PhD alumnus Hairong Lai's book China Experiments: From Local Innovations to National Reform co-authored with Ann Florini and Yeling Tan was published by Brooking Institution Press. The book examines the changing relationship between that state and its society, as demonstrated by numerous experiments in governance at subnational levels, and explores the implications for China's future political trajectory.

Presentation by Aaron Pitluck at New York Stock Exchange

Upon completing his postdoctoral fellowship in the Political Science Department, CEU, Aaron Pitluck gave a paper presentation at the New York Stock Exchange. Pitluck discussed his research he conducted among brokers and portfolio managers in Malaysia as part of his fellowship at CEU. Judit Sandor's Edited Book on Biopolitics Published

The Center for Ethics and Law in Biomedicine (CELAB) published a new book Studies in Biopolitics edited by Professor Judit Sandor. The book is a collection of case studies which focus on biopolitical practices and discourses, as well as reproductive policies and attempts to control populations, science, birth and gender ratio in Armenia, Georgia, Hungary, India, Israel, India, Poland, Romania, Serbia.
