The CEU Department of Political Science was pleased to co-host the 2025 MethodsNET Summer School, which successfully concluded on July 18 after three weeks of intensive training and academic exchange.
Now in its fourth year, the summer school welcomed 200 participants from across the globe, continuing to grow as a hub for methodological learning and international collaboration.
The 2025 program ran from June 30 to July 18. The first week was delivered online, increasing flexibility and access, while the following two weeks took place in person at CEU’s Vienna campus. Participants took part in hands-on courses and had the opportunity to connect in an engaging and interactive environment.
The curriculum included a wide range of research methods—from qualitative and case-based approaches to advanced quantitative and big data techniques. In addition to core courses taught by expert instructors, the program featured free supplemental workshops and open seminars to further expand participants' methodological skills.
More than just a training event, the MethodsNET Summer School fostered cross-disciplinary dialogue and new research connections. As one participant shared:
“It’s not just about improving skills, it’s about rethinking how we do research.”
With Vienna’s cultural setting as a backdrop, participants also enjoyed informal events and peer-led discussions.
