POLEMO is a research group on political, legal, and moral philosophy. Our research interests are as diverse as our members and range from topics like democracy and legitimacy to equality and justice.

We offer peer review to our members and guests during our Seminars and hold an annual conference called Symposium. We also organize lectures, workshops and informal events to bring together likeminded scholars within our community and beyond.

Believing in the value of debate and discussion to foster cutting-edge scholarship, we are a joint endeavour between the political science and philosophy departments. We keep in mind Heraclitus’ words – who gave us our name:

“For we must know that strife (πόλεμος polemos) is common to all, and strife is justice and that all things come into being through strife necessarily”
