László Kontler works on early-modern intellectual history, in particular political and historical thought, reception and translation, and history of knowledge in the Enlightenment. His first publication of any note was the introduction to the Hungarian edition of Locke's Second Treatise of Government (1986); his latest book is Translations, Histories, Enlightenments. William Robertson in Germany, 1765-1795 (2014).
