We are excited to announce that the Austrian Political Science Association (ÖGPW) is holding its 10th Annual Conference at the Central European University (CEU) in Vienna on November 28-29, 2024. This year, we are thrilled to host the event at CEU’s Political Science Department for the first time.
Conference Theme: Pushing Back Against the Enemies of Democracy
The conference will serve as a vital platform for discussing contemporary research and will bring together political scientists from Austria and around the globe. This year’s theme focuses on re-democratization, democratic resilience, civic engagement, depolarization, the defense of liberal democracy, and the future of the liberal international order. We aim to share both cautionary tales and democratic success stories to inspire and encourage.
We Welcome Your Submissions!
We invite everyone to contribute papers and panel proposals from all political science disciplines, including political theory, comparative politics, and international relations, employing diverse methodological approaches. While we encourage submissions that align with the conference theme, we also welcome papers and panels on other relevant topics within political science.
Submission Guidelines:
- Abstract Length: 150-300 words.
- Content: The abstract should detail the topic, research question, theoretical framework, methodology, contribution, and (expected) findings.
- Panel Proposals: Panels should consist of 4-5 papers. Ensure all participants are committed to attending and that abstracts adhere to conference guidelines. Diverse panel compositions are encouraged.
- Language: The primary conference language is English. Submissions in German are welcome but may be placed in English-speaking panels.
- Submission Limit: Each participant may submit a maximum of two papers (as author or co-author).
