Job Call: Assistant/Associate Professor in Comparative Politics

The Political Science Department at Central European University, Vienna, invites applications for a full-time open rank (Assistant or Associate) position in Comparative Politics. Having an active research interest in challenges to democracy in the 21st century or non-Western polities will be an advantage. Teaching experience, especially on the BA-level, is a welcome asset.

Duties and responsibilities
The successful candidate is expected to teach core and elective courses on the BA, MA, and PhD level in comparative politics, to supervise BA, MA, and PhD students, to publish in international outlets, and to participate in departmental initiatives. A typical teaching load consists of 12 teaching credits (where one credit equals 50 minutes of classroom contact over a 12-week academic term), plus BA, MA, and PhD thesis supervision.

Qualifications
The candidate must have a PhD or equivalent in political science and a proven record of excellence in scholarship. Post-graduate teaching experience in the area of comparative politics is a plus.

Compensation
We offer a competitive salary that is commensurate with experience as well as a dynamic and international academic environment. The initial appointment is for six years, renewable as indefinite, after review.
