Project of Representation, Accountability and Campaign Personalization: A Multi-Method Study in Romania

Assistant Professor Marina Popescu led a research team including doctoral students to conduct a post-electoral survey of the Romanian candidates at the December 2012 national parliamentary elections. The researchers also developed a vote advice application (available at http://testvot.eu) embedded in an issue information and deliberation platform (http://openpolitics.ro) that included questions also asked from the candidates mostly focusing on the substantive issues that also formed the core of the topics covered in respect to legislative behaviour of the candidates. The study was part of a larger project on representation, campaign personalization and legislative behaviour. It was a pioneering effort, going beyond the traditional studies, and as such had a significant potential to make a contribution to the scientific literature and strengthening research on the topic at CEU.
