Matthijs Bogaards is currently visiting professor at the Department of Political Science, CEU in Budapest, Hungary. Matthijs Bogaards obtained a PhD in political science  from the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, and has since worked at various international universities. From July to December 2015, he will be the Van Zyl Slabbert visiting professor at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. His research focuses on democratization and on the challenge of democracy in divided societies. He is currently preparing a comparative study of consociational power sharing after civil war.
