The department is proud to support the CEU Political Science Journal - The Graduate Student Review, a student initiative back from 2005/06. It was a group of graduate students decided to launch a journal that, in its procedures - and indeed even in its language of communication – emulates the best academic journals of our time. Manuscripts are solicited from all members of a virtual community only united by a shared interest in analyzing politics in a truly scholarly - if you like, scientific - way, and not divided by political, linguistic, institutional, and social network boundaries. The manuscripts are peer reviewed in a double-blind system where only academic merit can count; the authors receive feedback on reasons of rejection or expected improvements; and the target audience of the journal is no more and no less than the whole universe of potential contributors.

CEU Political Science Journal (PSJ) is published as a quarterly by the Department of Political Science from Central European University Budapest. It seeks to promote scholarly research in Political Science and related fields, meeting the standard requirements for academic research in terms of conceptualization, operationalization, methodological application, and analysis of results. The publication promotes those works that approach a significant research problem and answer research questions of general interest in political science. Due to the fact that the Journal addresses a wide range of academics we encourage presentation of research to be made at a level where it is understandable to most of the target group.

In the attempt to promote original works, CEU PSJ does not accept articles that are under review at other publications or articles that have parts that were published or are forthcoming under the same form in other places. Contributions using statistical analysis have to make the proof of the data available in order to allow replicability.

The Journal consists mainly of two parts, “articles” and “book reviews”, the latter being designed especially for the Ph.D. researchers that have not yet finished their work but are interested in making it public. Submitting an article to the journal is a good opportunity to overcome the fear of the first publication and/or to increase your visibility as an academic. Our body of reviewers will provide you valuable comments even in the case of a possible rejection for publishing.
